In this modern day version of the famous story, Romeo and Juliet, it will take place in the West Bank, after the Jews forced the Palestinians out of there homes. This adaptation will have the Capulet’s represented by a Palestinian family, who had been living in Palestine for generations until there entire family was forced out. The Montague’s will represent a very rich Israeli family, who had moved into the West Bank after the Jews claimed Israel. As a natural reaction, the Palestinian family, who was forced to relocate to the West Bank, hated the Israelis and everything about them. Sharing similar feelings, the Israeli family hated the Palestinians for not gladly giving up their land when the Jews were so close to extinction. Romeo, a part of the Jewish family, will be a boy who is trying hard in school so that he can take over the family business when his parents are to old to work. Juliet, a member of the Palestinian family, will be a girl that is unable to go to school because she has to work to help out her family so that they can continue to own a home. Romeo will wear a clean, nicely pressed suit that will represent the wealth of the Jewish family. Juliet will wear a dirty, crumbled shirt and pants since that is the only outfit that she owns. Much like in Verona, they will most definitely be fighting in the streets of the West Bank.
